Myrtle Lou Hoover, age 80, passed away on December 27, 2013, in Conroe, Texas. Her services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 31, 2013 at the Big Sandy Baptist Church in Dallardsville, with Rev. Irvin Mott presiding. Pallbearers will be Travis Hoover, Clay Hoover, Lynn Hendrix, Gene Lowrie, Mark Lowrie and Lance Needham; and Honorary Pallbearers, Brett Hoover and Robert Scarborough. Interment to follow at Big Sandy Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to service.
Myrtle was born February 7, 1933, in Overton, Texas to parents Elvis Payne and Mabel Ella (Mercer) Scarborough. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elvis and Mabel Scarborough; her husband, W.E. Hoover, Jr.; brother, James Edward Scarborough; and sister-in-law, Maxine Scarborough.
Myrtle is survived by Brad and Althea Hoover, son and daughter-in-law of Livingston; Dena and Don Fancett, daughter and son-in-law of Big Sandy; Grandchildren: Travis and Amy Hoover and Brett and Jessica Hoover; Great Grandchildren: Brody Rubin Hoover, Chase Holden Hoover and Gracie Joan Hoover; and Brother, Robert E.P. Scarborough of Houston.
Myrtle loved God, her family, friends and community. She and her husband were involved in the Cub Scouts where she acquired the nickname "Henry." She moved with her family to Big Sandy in 1974. There she owned and operated a café across from the Big Sandy School where she mentored many children, and loved them all dearly. Her favorite past time was embroidering and visiting with her friends.
