Sidney was born in Lufkin, Texas to parents Audrey and Norman L. Green. He was raised in Lufkin and was a 1970 graduate of Lufkin High School. He received an Associate Degree in Science from Angelina College in 1972. Mr. Green attended Stephen F. He earned his Master's Degree in Education with emphasis in Professional School Counseling at Sam Houston State University. In 1979, he was named one of the Outstanding Young Men in America and in 1991, received the Polk County Chamber of Commerce Education Award. In 1992, Mr. Green was named Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Education Service Center. He was a teacher at Livingston Junior High School for many years. After receiving certification, he was a school counselor for several years until his retirement. He continued his lifelong goal of teaching by online tutoring of students all over the United States until weeks before his passing.

He dearly loved listening to Christian music, watching old westerns on television, and cheering on his beloved Sam Houston Bearkats team.

Sidney met and married the love of his life, Marie, on November 15, 1974 and together they enjoyed traveling around the country, going to basketball games, enjoying special time with their many friends and just being together. More than anything, they shared a deep commitment to their faith and lived their lives loving God and serving others.

He will be deeply missed by many, but especially by sister, Silvia (Melvin) Walker; sister, Elaine (Earl) Stuckey; nephews – Dustin Walker, Jason Stuckey, Aaron Stuckey, Matthew Stuckey; and loyal friend, Melanie Walters.
