Funeral services for Novie Jean Nettles, 87, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow at Peebles Cemetery. Visitation will be held the day of service, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Novie was born March 8, 1937 in Livingston, Texas and passed away May 24, 2024 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Aubrey Earl Nettles; father, William "Bill" Gordon Johnson; mother, Jane Marie (Shackelford)Baker; granddaughter, Kathleen Lois Nettles; and brothers, Billy Joe Johnson and Bonna "Butch" Schwartz.

Novie accomplished and experienced many things throughout her life. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa College Honor Society, received her Master's degree in business from the University of Houston at age 45 and had careers in Communications and Human Resources. Novie worked at the Rice Hotel in Houston, Texas. While there, she met various celebrities, including President Kennedy the day before he was assassinated and the Apollo 11 Astronauts. She also spent 5 years in Saudi Arabia with her husband. She loved reading, traveling, and family.

She is survived by her sons, Jon Nettles and wife Karen, and Bentley Nettles and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Lucas Nettles and wife Brittany, Lydia Admire and husband Justin, Peter Nettles, and Henry Nettles; great grandchildren, Adeline Nettles, Asher Nettles, Elijah Admire, Benjamin Nettles, Liam Admire, and Collin Nettles;  and sister, Ginger Yates; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
