Mr. Johnson was born March 3, 1947 in New Caney, Texas, to parents, Albert Otis Johnson and Mary Bell (Maddox) Johnson, and passed away January 7, 2020 in Lufkin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marshall Johnson, Buddy Johnson, and Nelson Johnson; sisters, Sister Keen, Ruby Moren, Puddin Robinson, Virginia Lum, and Leyte Ussery; and grandson, Kevin Michael Scott.

OJ enjoyed creating something out of nothing. He loved being outside and one of his favorite things to do was tending to his garden. He was so proud of his fruit trees and the flowers. When family or friends visited, he took them on a tour of his yard. If someone needed help, he would try to help even if that help was only his advice. He loved to pick on people. He never met a stranger and helped those in need whether they were relatives or friends. He loved his wife, kids, grandchildren, and his little dog "Trouble" more than life itself. One of the last things he said to his children was to make sure we knew to take care of our Momma and each other. That was more important to him than the outcome of his own health. He deeply believed in God and we all hope to see him again walking through the gardens of heaven with all of our loved ones.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Johnson of Livingston, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Steven Alford of Alvin, Texas, Crystal and Mike Scott of Livingston, Texas; Tracey and Bill Johnson of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Candi Johnson of Livingston, Texas; son, J.D. Johnson of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Scott, Madison Scott, Dustin Kirkland, Clint Kirkland, Kristen Kirkland, Cheyanne Johnson, James Johnson Jr., Kerrie Johnson, Lisa Johnson, Kaydence Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Megan Johnson Trejo, and Morgan Johnson; great grandchildren, Brantley Scott, Brian Scott, Tayven Kirkland, Rayden Kirkland, Mia Johnson Lirette, Violet Johnson, and Damien Trejo; brother, Otis Johnson Jr. of Livingston, Texas; sisters, Mary Lum (also known by OJ as Momma until he started school) of Cleveland, Texas, and Carrie Fay Woodard of Onalaska, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ocie and Butch Loving of New Caney, Texas, and Lizzi and Pete Ferguson of Cleveland, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
