Services Olga Juanita "Nana" Lankford, 86, of Goodrich, Texas will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas. Visitation will take place the day of service, from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Olga was born July 9, 1937 in Baytown, Texas and passed away February 2, 2024 in Lufkin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Melvin" Lankford; parents, Archie Houston McClain and Leona Elizabeth (Polk) McClain; twin sister, Wanda Sandlin; and granddaughter, Kristy Reeves.
She and Melvin were married May 22, 1955, they were married 58 years before his passing.
Olga attended Lee College and years later, after her children were grown, went back to complete her Bachelor's Degree in education, from Lamar University in 1985. She loved teaching her kindergarten and first grade students. Teaching was her gift. She retired from Galena Park ISD after 33 years. Olga was also a life-long member of the Market Street Baptist Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
She was an avid reader and loved the fine arts. Olga enjoyed oil painting, attending the theatre and Opera, but her true passion was being a Nana.
She is survived by her daughters, Joni Carney and husband Jeff of Goodrich, Texas and Cari Banner and husband Terry of Dayton, Texas; grandchildren, Shelly and husband Jeff, Laurin, Sarah, Desiree and husband Joshua, Kendrick and wife Melissa, Stuart, Seth and wife Olivia, Cara and husband Tyson, Macie, and Madison; and great grandchildren, Ethan, Peyton, Piper, Brooklyn, Dylan, Reid, Aidan, Wesley, Mekalya, Justice, Aubree, Donavann, Gabriel, Autumn, Thomas, Jacob, Cheyenne, Lukas, Levi, Brinley, Hadley, SJ, and Banks; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
