Obituary

Funeral services for Oliver Owen "Preacher" Simpson, 89, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. David Jones and Bro. Orval Barger officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery in Segno, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Simpson was born June 28, 1927 in Emerson, Arkansas to parents, John Albert Simpson and Sara Jane (Duty) Simpson, and passed away August 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He served in Germany as a part of the United States Army's security and peace keeping force during the months following World War II. He was a member of the Schwab City Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for 43 years. Preacher enjoyed playing card games and dominos with family and friends. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and never tired of getting the largest buck or catching the biggest fish. He worked in the oil field all of his life and then enjoyed over 28 years of retirement with his wife and best friend Tincy. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Simpson; brothers, Roy Simpson and Delbert Simpson; sisters, Dovie, Jewel, Dasie Mae, Lillie, and Lois.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Darlene "Tincy" Simpson of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Kathleen Simpson of Mont Belvieu, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Dee Feris of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Peyton, Drew, Lynsey and husband Kenneth, Whitney and husband Mathew; great grandchildren, Madison and Fiona. He is also survived by his special doggy June Bug, and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Schwab City Baptist Church or Harbor Hospice.

Pallbearers: Peyton Simpson, Drew Simpson, Richard Cain, Nicky Cain, Matt Lewis, Kenneth Hepburn.
