Graveside services for Onyda Kimball Laird, 98, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Jason Sandefer officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Onyda died April 19, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. She was born December 5, 1918 in Pine Grove, Texas to parents, Lucius Dewitt Kimball and Lela (Barclay) Kimball. She was married to Herman D. Laird on November 26, 1939 and was widowed on July 21, 1955. They shared a wonderful and happy 15 years together.
She had a rewarding career with Sakowitz and retired to 121 Kimball Lane, Livingston, Texas where she raised vegetables, cats and a loving dog. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, mowing the grass, and working in her garden. In her later years, she moved to The Gardens and enjoyed participating in the activities and fellowship.
Onyda was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Herman Laird; and brothers, Carroll Kimball and Bronson Kimball. She is survived by her sister; Patsy Whitworth; nieces, Bobbye Parker, Margo Michael, Carol Pixley, and Martha Davis; and nephews, William Kimball and Larry Kimball; as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family of Mrs. Laird would like to express their sincere appreciation to the management and staff of The Gardens Assisted Livingston Center and to the Kindred Hospice Group for their constant and special care given so lovingly to our loved one.
