IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Orlin Rubin
Rice
September 23, 1930 – August 30, 2022
Graveside services for Orlin Rubin Rice, 91, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., in the Jones Prairie Cemetery in Leggett Texas with Rev. Cary Baskin officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Orlin was born September 23, 1930 in the Old Bering Community outside of Corrigan, Texas and went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2022 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Rice and Vida (Foster) Rice.
Orlin displayed a quiet humor and especially loved to talk about his time growing up during the end of the Great Depression era. Orlin loved carpentry and woodworking, even from his youth, and talked about building toys for himself and his brothers and sisters. He always portrayed support for his family and was especially glad for his job as an electrical lineman for Sam Houston Electric Coop until his retirement in January 1993, after 42 years of service to the community. Orlin was especially loving and generous, and always tried to show patience, love, and honesty to his family, friends, and neighbors. He liked keeping up with politics and the news and was always concerned at what was going on in our country and the world. Orlin's memory will live on for all those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy Lee. They shared 71 years of marriage and wed in July 1951. Before his passing, they had two sons, Herbert and Robert; two loving grandchildren, Krisha and husband Lance Hall, and Kevin Rice. He is survived by two sisters, Mozelle Hardin of Lousiana and Bennie Reinhardt of Corrigan, Texas. Orlin is preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel and Hazel; and three brothers, Willis, Doyle and Billy. He also had other relatives and friends that will miss him being in their lives.
