Obituary

Funeral services for Oscar Landry Williams, 80, of Livingston, Texas will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Texas Indian Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Roy Jernigan and Bro. Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow in the First Texas Indian Baptist Church Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018, in the First Texas Indian Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Williams was born March 24, 1938 on the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation in Livingston, Texas, to parents, David Williams and Mattie Sue Williams, and went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2018 at The Bradford at Brookside in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Oscar graduated high school from Dallardsville Big Sandy in 1957. He was on the State Runner-up team in 1955 and on the State Champion team in 1957. He was selected All State player in 1955 & 1957 and on 1956 he was on the Texas Sports Writers Association All State team. That same year, Oscar was later selected on the 3 rd team All State player from the Waco Tribune-Herald.

In 1957, he attended Tyler Junior College on a basketball scholarship and later attended the University of Corpus Christi to finish out his career. Oscar retired from United Gas Pipeline of 25 years in Goodrich Texas.

Oscar was a longtime member of the First Texas Indian Baptist Church (FTIBC) where he served as a song leader for 35 years. He was an avid reader of his Bible, a respected man of God, loved going to church and of course watching his grandkids play sports.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delores "Dee" Williams; daughter, Karen Battise and husband, Derek; daughter, Carla Williams and husband, Maynard; daughter, Terri Bullock; grandchildren, Kimberly Bullock and husband, Geese, Jason Williams and wife, Toahani, Anthony Williams and wife, Cordie, Michael Kowena and wife, Katie, Trey Bullock, Hannah Kowena-Roberts and husband, Kyle, Kristin Battise, Angel Bullock, and Charity Battise; great-grandchildren, Minneah Williams, Makenna Williams, Kobey Chaske' Landry Williams, Kiyaani Williams, Gabriella Battise, Kuaneah Battise-Kowena, Andrew Williams, NaKoah Kowena, Nyla Roberts, Sampson Kowena, and Nadia Bullock; brother, Burke Walker; and sister-in-law, Pauline Williams; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Jason Williams, Anthony Williams, Michael Kowena, Trey Bullock, Angel Bullock, Joseph Williams, Kobey Williams and Sampson Kowena.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ardie Dixon, Terry West, John Johnson, Shirald Hendrix, Johnny Williams, John Davis, Jerry McCulley and Jose Chavarria.
