Obituary

Patricia Marie (Thul) Butson died peacefully, surrounded by her children, at Timberwood Nursing Home in Livingston, TX on Tuesday, January 30 at the age of 94.

Pat is survived by her sister Anne Weber of LaMesa, CA; her children: Chick and Diane Butson of San Pablo, CA; Bobbi and Mike Shirley of Livingston, TX, Vicki Butson of Altamonte Springs, FL and Julie and Pete Mickler of Apopka, FL; grandchildren: Kathy and Mike DiCarlo, Scott Miller, Billy Miller, Tony Butson, Gina and Kelly Butson, Heather Jernigan, Paul Shirley, Jessie, Adam and Lauren Mickler; great grandchildren: Nathan and Jillian DiCarlo, Sarah Miller; Toni DiCarlo ; Brett and Alex Butson; Robert and Destiny Shirley, Brad and Trint Shirley, and Reagan Jernigan; and many beloved great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Earl (Kenny) Butson; her daughter, Carol Miller, her sister Irene Butson, her parents Henry and Gladys Thul, and her dearest friend, Beatie Forsythe.

Pat was known for her card-playing, her volunteer work, a love of golf, and a commitment to family and friends. She always told you what she was thinking and had an amazing sense of humor. Her arms and her home were always wide open.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, February 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Livingston, TX with a reception to follow. A memorial mass will be held in Vernon Center, MN with a summer date to be announced. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pat's life. If you can't be with us, we appreciate your prayers.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at 206 East 8th Street, Apopka, Florida 32703 c/o Karen Valiente. Mom did a year of volunteer service with the Catholic Volunteers in Florida and served Loaves and Fishes for many additional years. The food pantry was her pride and joy.

Thank you all for your kind words and for sharing your memories with us. We feel so blessed to have had this strong, bold, and faithful woman as our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin, and friend.

We wish to thank the caring staff of Timberwood Nursing Home for making these last month's safe and comfortable. You loved her, laughed with her, served her graciously, and allowed her to pass with the utmost dignity.

And thank you to the community at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. You welcomed this life-long Catholic into your midst and cared for her as one of your own.
