Paul was born November 5, 1946, in Cleveland, Texas to Victor and Mary (Collins) Galloway. Paul’s official time of death was Monday, May 18, 2026, in Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Houston Medical Center. He had suffered a fall on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at home, which resulted in a severe, inoperable brain bleed. He remained in Memorial Hermann Life Gifts Donor Center until Thursday, May 21, 2026, to complete the donation of his life saving organs and tissue.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Harvy D and Johnnie (Turner) Galloway, and Sim and Fannie (Capps) Collins; brother, Victor Galloway Jr.; brothers-in-law, Bill Schubert and Charles Victor Brown; and great niece, Anneliesse Hartman.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice (Payne) Galloway; son, Jeffery Paul Galloway and wife Deena (Sloan) Galloway; grandsons, Austin Galloway and Cole Miller Galloway and Jazmyn Jernigan; and great grandson and namesake, Tatum Mack Galloway.
Paul is also survived by his sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Lee Schubert and Mrs. Teresa Brown; nephews, Michael Chessher, Michael Payne, Matthew Brown, Clint Payne, Justin Payne, and Jonathan Payne; nieces, Melissa Chessher, Vicky Galloway, Natalie Brown, and Stacey Payne Ferguson; and brother-in-law, Rodney Lynn and wife Peggy (Brock) Payne; as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews, and a host other loved ones and friends.
Paul attended Livingston ISD, graduating in 1965, after which, he attended Blinn College and Sam Houston University. Paul pipelined on jobs in many towns and states. He also worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Federal Reserve Bank in Houston, but he was a Polk County boy and those jobs took him away from the place and the people he loved, so he always came back to Livingston. Paul attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Boldsprings and was baptized by Bro. C.L. Moore.
Paul made many good friends through Galloway Grocery and Exxon, his store at Camp Ruby from 1971-1991. Then he and Jeff made new friends at Galloway Exxon and U-Haul in Livingston from 1996-2024.
Paul Mack managed the station to enable Jeff and his family to spend time playing ball and taking vacation trips. He loved getting to do that for Jeff, Deena, Austin, and Cole. He was a generous and kind father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather. Wilbur Lee and Teresa will tell you he was a good brother too! He was dearly loved by his family and many others.
He enjoyed meeting the “breakfast club” at Jack’s (Charlies Restaurant) on early morning workdays. The 5 a.m. regulars included Jimmy Monroe, Christopher Scott, Larry Peters, Bubba Parker, and Paul Mack.
His last three and a half months, he enjoyed keeping T Mack with Alice. Being a great grandfather was special to him and they became very close. T Mack and his PawPaw read books, played, and ate breakfast together.
We are all grateful for this special time. He finally got to retire and do some porch sitting, bird watching, and sleeping in!!
Paul Mack will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
