Funeral services for Paul Elwyn Poe age 90, of Livingston will be held Sunday October 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Livingston Church of Christ with Rev. Lindell Mitchell officiating and interment to follow in the Midway Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Pallbearers will be Steven McDonald, Mark Pitts, Jonathan Tome, Mike Knox, Elmer Sabrsula, David Franklin, Terry Kelley and Joe Kelley.
He was born September 27, 1920 in Latexo, Texas the son of Walter H. Poe and Janie N. Dixson Poe and passed away October 14, 2010 at a hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Paul E. Poe proudly fought in World War II with the Army Air Corps. He returned to his beautiful wife Gwen Poe, who he spent 67 years loving. He was a dedicated and loving Christian father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Never one to sit still, Paul was actively working on his property until just recently. He was a truly kind and generous man who was always willing to help anyone in need. His family is proud and happy that he was able to make this a better place for all who came after him. He has now happily joined Gwen in their new Heavenly home, although she probably thought he took too long returning to her.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gwendolyn Poe, and daughter, Candace Pitts.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Herschel McDonald of Livingston, Texas and Pam and Chris Tome of Austin, Texas, grandsons and spouses, Mark and Lori Pitts, Steven and Mylissa McDonald, Jonathan and Rebecca Tome, granddaughters and spouses, Kori and Steve Wilson, Becki and Trevor Sutton, granddaughter, Shara Tome, brother, W.H. Poe, 8 great grandchildren; Numerous nieces, nephews, and community friends also survive.
