Obituary

Services for Peggy J. (Burton) Hogue, 94, of Houston, Texas, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Ted Schwank officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 5:00-8:0 p.m. at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

Peggy was born December 16, 1929 in Jacksonville, Texas and passed away December 22, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Albert Burton and Rhoda (Cox) Burton; husband, Charlie James Hogue, Jr.; brothers, James W. "Sonny" Burton and Frank Albert Burton, Jr.; and grandson, William K. Neeley III.

She graduated from Jeff Davis High School, in Houston Texas. During the 1940's, she competed in Rodeos as a Barrel Racer.  She later married Charlie Hogue Jr. and raised three sons.  She attended Central Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas, and White Oak Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.  She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was an avid reader, expert shopper, adventurous cook, and delightful host.  She has been described as a Southern Belle with Hollywood glamour.  Peggy was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and Christian who prayed for us to the very end.  Thank you Mother for a lifetime of love, until we meet again in Heaven.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Chuck Hogue of Houston, Texas, Chris Hogue and wife Melanie of Cypress, Texas, and Patrick Hogue of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Debra Hogue of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, C.J. Hogue and Valeria, Amanda Lee and Eric MacDonald, Liam MacDonald, Christopher Hogue, Jr., and Jonathan Hogue; great grandchildren, Noah MacDonald and Benjamin Hogue; brother, Jerry Cox; sisters, Barbara Alice Brockway and Mary Ann Gunnin; and sisters -in-law, Hilda Simmons and Drusilla Hogue; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fairbanks Court Assisted Living of Houston, Texas, or Central Baptist Church of Livingston, Texas.
