Funeral services for Peggy Joice Silcox, 81, of Goodrich, Texas, will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Mike Heuer officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Peggy Joice Silcox was born July 1, 1942 in Goodrich, Texas to parents Lester Lee Emanuel and Francis Delihah Nelson Emanuel and passed away April 23, 2024 in Goodrich, Texas. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cindia Lane Wiggins; sister, Juanita Emanuel Gokey; mother Francis Delihah Nelson Emanuel; father Lester Lee Emanuel; husband Raymond Lee Silcox, (May 17, 2024, would have been 57 years); brothers-in-law, Charles Silcox and Paul Silcox; and sister-in-law, Francis Silcox Cunningham.
Peggy was a lifelong resident of Goodrich and heir to founding Explorers/Settlers of Polk County, Texas. She was a cattle rancher and hay producer. Peggy was a Fireman, a member of the rescue team and secretary of the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department for many years. She responded to hundreds of calls as Unit 2. Peggy enjoyed reading, rescuing and rehabilitating dogs and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She passed away peacefully as her residence.
Other things to know about Peggy Silcox: she loved to work outside, raking and bailing hay. She could outwork any man building a fence. Peggy survived cancer and had been in remission for over 20 years. She was a tough lady who was never afraid. Peggy Joice Silcox had a big heart but showed her love in different ways.
Peggy is survived by her son, Dameron Wayne and daughter-in-law, Martha Silcox; daughter, Kimberly Ann Silcox; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Silcox and Elaine, Paul Silcox and Rose; grandson, Caleb Kedric and his wife Grace Martin Erwin; granddaughters, Autumn Brianna and husband, Jeremiah Daniel Sharp, Lacey Morrissey and husband, Jeff Williams; grandsons, David Morrisey, Jr., Brian Silcox, Peter Silcox and Christopher Silcox; great-granddaughters, Taylor Stone, Oaklynn Faye Erwin, and Mia Silcox; great-grandsons, Jaden Thompson, Joey Tucker, David Morrissey, III, Easton Morrissey, Quinton Silcox, and Kade Silcox; nieces, Nita Gokey, Brenda Gokey Hambrick and husband, Kenneth, Laura Vailes Jerry, Angela Vailes Christoph, Sherry Silcox, Sheila Silcox, Cindy Silcox, Stevie Silcox and Candy Binning; nephews, Bobby Gokey, Jr., Cullen Vailes and Rich Binning; sister-in-law, Jackie Silcox along with numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Silcox will be escorted to her grave by pallbearers: Elbert (Bubba) Emanuel, Jr., James Pixley, Bobby Stephens, Robert Pixley, Aaron Medrano, David Morrissey, Jr., Jeff Williams, Jim Sharp and Ronnie Walters.
