Phil Hughes 48 of Onalaska passed away Sunday November 23, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00PM at the First United Methodist Church in Onalaska with Rev. Paul Whitlatch officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday November 24, 2008 in the Cochran Funeral Home - Onalaska Chapel from 6:00PM until 10:00PM.

Phil was born December 5, 1959 in Hobbs, New Mexico to parents Leslie and Bettie Jo Caruthers Hughes. He was very involved in animal rehab, and was known as the ""Bird Man of Onalaska"".

He is survived by his sons Clint Hughes and Shane Hughes both of Livingston, daughter Kara Jo Hughes of Onalaska, father Leslie ""Buck"" Hughes of Onalaska, and brothers Gary Leslie Hughes and wife Georgie of Livingston, Buddy Hughes and wife Sherry of Wallisville, and Max Hughes and wife Marie of Han Kamer.

Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Hughes, Shane Hughes, Jay Todd Hughes, Allen Hughes, Keith Hughes, Chris Hughes, and Kelly McLemore.
