Memorial services for Truman Roger "Pick" Bland, 80, of Goodrich, Texas will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Wayne Bland officiating
Pick was born September 6, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas and passed in peace Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Goodrich, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Bland, Sr., and mother, Melba Bland Guillory.
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Mary Alice Bland; son, Roger Wayne Bland and wife, Debbie; daughter, Rhonda Bland and Jimmy; grandchildren, Buddy and wife Tabby, Buck and wife Brittany, Hunter and wife Melanie, and Courtney; great grandchildren, Dustin, Cayden, Case, Hoyt, Huck, Haus, June, and Aspen; brothers, Carl Jr. and wife Pam, and Carlos and wife Linda; sisters, Velma Hollis, Carlyne McCall, Carla Gutierrez, and Sherri Bates; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pick loved his family and friends and everyone who knew him loved him. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. His career as a commercial fisherman in Livingston, Texas bean around 1978. In 1986, he and Mary opened Pick's Fish Market. It became the go-to place for fresh fish. By word of mouth, people came from all the surrounding cities to shop at the market.
Pick was a man of great faith. He was instrumental in leading many people to salvation. Pick and Mary have been attending Riding on Faith Church since 2013. There he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and part-time preacher. He loved his Lord and Savior and told anyone who would listen about his personal salvation. With every opportunity, he encourage people and shared the Word of God. He was a prayer warrior. It was not unusual nor a coincidence that customers at the fish market would ask Pick to pray for them.
He will be greatly missed in our lives, but the memories will live on forever.
