Ralph Herman Jones was born in Leggett, TX March 16, 1932.  He went to school in Nacogdoches and when his family moved to Houston, he completed his high school education at Jeff Davis High School.  After graduation, he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone and soon met his future wife on a blind date.  He passed away peacefully October 11, 2021 at 5:48 a.m.  He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margie Joyce Jones, his brothers Hartzel and Charlie Jones, his three children Patricia Maeda and her husband Jeff Maeda, Betty Ward and her husband Dennis Colvin, and Dennis Jones and his wife Becky Jones.  He leaves five grandchildren, Dan Buck, Brandy Williams, Angela Boudreaux, Dennis Jones Jr., and Daniel Jones.  He was blessed with 9 great grandchildren, Brooke Williams, Mykayla Jones, Colby Boudreaux, Blake Boudreaux, Dylan Buck, Julianne Buck, Caroline Buck, Olivia Koger, and Haley Koger.

Herman will be remembered for his kindness, willingness to help people, and his amazing work ethic.  He worked for Southwestern Bell for 31 years and made many life-long friends.  He worked part-time for Monakino Wrecker Service so he could better provide for his family, making friends along the way with firemen who watched over him during sometimes dangerous jobs.  After that he transferred trucks nationwide for Ryder Truck Rental and was able to take Joyce along with him many times.  His grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him great joy.  He was wonderful with babies, and he was the one to soothe them when no one else could. He never missed his children's little league baseball games or high school football games.  He wasn't able to personally participate in sports when growing up, but made up for it as a fan of the Houston Oilers, Texans, Astros, and Rockets.  There are others who loved him like a father and were part of his life for many years.  He was a role model for all.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., and funeral services will be held at Cochran's Funeral Home in Livingston on October 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.  He will rest at Camp Ruby Cemetery.
