Funeral services for R.B. Lollar, 79, of Goodrich, Texas, will be held Monday, August 3, 2015 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Harold Isaacs officiating. Interment to follow in the Center Grove Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will held Sunday, August 2, 2015 beginning at 5:00 P.M. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
RB Lollar, was born on November 29, 1935 in Livingston, Texas to parents, Daniel Aaron Lollar and Hazel Frances (Stokes) Lollar. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at MD Anderson Hospital on July 30, 2015 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Kenneth Ray Dillon; and son-in-law, David Knighton.
RB accepted the Lord as a teenager. His family moved from Nacogdoches to Livingston, where he met, and fell in love with his wife, Imogene Crawford. They were married on July 24, 1957 and recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.
RB spent 33 years of his adult life in law enforcement. He started out as an elected constable in Polk County. Then he became a Deputy Game Warden in Lufkin, Texas. When he moved his family to Goodrich, RB became a produce business owner until 1977. Following that he worked for the Trinity River Authority in their security department and retired there after 23 years of service. He was also a member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department from August 1958 until August 1961. In 1960, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Fire Department #23 and helped to organize the Goodrich Fire Department.
RB loved his family and grandchildren. He was enthusiastic about spending time with nature, which led him to become a photographer and use his talent to document all type of birds, flora and fauna. He was an avid bird watcher and played an instrumental part with giving information about the local bird migration for The Audubon Society, and in procuring the safety of the birds on the Lake Livingston, bridge by having a fence erected to protect the migratory path of the birds as they flew over.
After his retirement, RB traveled with his wife all over the United States. He volunteered for various, Corp of Engineer Parks. He never met a stranger and always had an entertaining story, or joke, to share at any given time to anyone who would listen.
In his later years, RB became a Baptist Deacon and spent his time sharing his faith in the Lord to everyone he came into contact with.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Lollar of Goodrich, Texas; daughters, Guynne' Dillon of Livingston, Texas and Tammy Knighton of College Station, Texas; son, Daniel Lollar of Goodrich, Texas; grandsons, Jeffrey Kyle Dillon and Laura, Keith Dillon, Jeremy Knighton and Beth, and Joshua Knighton; great-grandchildren, Carter Dillon, Caroline Dillon, Sophia Knighton, and Isabella Knighton; sister, Louise Denham of Livingston, Texas; along with numerous other relatives, and friends.
