Obituary
Funeral services for R.B. Savage, 89, of Livingston, Texas will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Austin Savage and Dana Holst officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #8568. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
R.B. Savage died unexpectedly at home on October 22, 2015 in Livingston, Texas. Mr. Savage is survived by his wife, Myrtle Savage of Livingston as well as his children, Oscar (Anita) Savage of Elkton, Maryland, Mark (Nicki) Savage of Popular Grove, Arkansas, Mike (Vicki) Savage and Lisa (Dana) Savage Holst of Liberty, Texas. Stepchildren, Teresa (Phil) Millar of Livingston, Texas, Dale (Colleen) Dittfurth of Elkheart Kansas and Richard Dittfurth of Higgens, Texas. He is also survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Frances Savage; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Savage is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Grace (Sullivan) Savage; his brothers, O.S. (Slim) Savage and J.D. Savage and ½ brother, John Gerry. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Savage Jr.
He served in the Army during World War II and retired from the Texas Department of Corrections. Mr. Savage was a Mason and he loved to read, fish and hunt. He also loved to be around animals, his kids and grandkids.
Pallbearers: Bill Savage, Wesley Savage, Russell Savage, Cole Savage, Lee Russell, Amanda Savage
Honorary Pallbearers: George Moody, Shane Holst, Jerry Williams, Doyle Williams, Ty Holst
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scottish Rites Hospital for Children of Houston.
