IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Ralph
Baker
October 28, 1939 – March 11, 2023
Richard (Rick) R. Baker, 83, of Livingston, TX passed away peacefully in his home on March 11, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 28, 1939 in Wichita, Kansas to Lora Margarette Davidson (Denton), eventually moving to Texas where he became an anchor to his family; both biological and non-biological. Rick was strong in his faith and led his loved ones by example and consistency. He was known for his direct personality and unfiltered expressions in which he was a firm believer in reaping what you sow. Proverbs 9:9 (NIV) proclaims "instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning". Rick complied to this verse, where he invested several years of his life with The Boy Scouts of America as Scout Master, moreover as a vital mentor to the youth, successfully planting persevering roots to countless young men. In his later years, Rick volunteered much of his time with the Church and within the community where he was well loved for his unmatched generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" (Matthew 14:7, NIV), and Rick walked this path firmly which has certainly led him to eternal peace with the Lord.
Rick is survived by his assumed daughter, Lea Henderson and her spouse Stephen Lindsey of Livingston, TX, grandson Shawn Henderson and his spouse Tiffany Henderson of Kingwood, TX and great-grandchildren Peyton, Emily and Carter Henderson. Rick's memory will also continue to live on through his siblings Ronald Glenn Baker, Romia Jean Moe-Hoenike, Rodney Arnold Baker, Bernie Joe Haselwood, Dolly Roberts, Bruce Allie Davidson, David Allen Davidson, Monty Dale Davidson, and Suzann Marie Griffin. It is notable to give respect to Jason Walker of Kingwood, TX whom Rick loved and had the pleasure of watching grow into a respectful young man. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lora Margarette Davidson (Denton), brothers Robert (Bob) Wayne Baker, Randall (Randy) Lee Haselwood, Virgil Ray Baker and James (Jimmy) Neal Haselwood.
We welcome all those who wish to serve their respects to Rick, please join us at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, TX on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. for a brief visitation. A Celebration of Life will directly follow at the Firehouse in Onalaska, TX.
