Memorial services for Richard Eugene Dill, age 83, of Zwolle, Louisiana, will be Saturday February 19, 2011 at Zwolle Baptist Church in Zwolle, Louisiana, 2051 Pt. Arthur St., Zwolle, LA., 71486 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Brett Campbell and Dr. Vernon Stephenson officiating.
He was born February 1, 1928 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas the son of Edwin Perry Dill and Mary Elizabeth Ireland Dill and passed away February 4, 2011 in Livingston, Texas.
He attended high school in El Reno, Okalahoma and graduated in 1945. His senior year he was selected for the All State Basketball Team and won the State Basketball Championship. He attended Oklahoma State University and Centenary College where he played basketball as well.
September 1, 1951 he married Theda Faye Brister and three children during their 25 year marriage.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, stationed in France post World War II.
He worked for Exxon from 1954-1967 as a senior sales representative and then he worked for Richardson Ayers distributing Company from 1967 to 1978 when he retired. On February 4, 1978 he married Ophelia Aguillard Brister and traveled the world including a three month trip to Alaska and many cruises. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and all outdoor activities with his family including his annual tradition of boiling crawfish with the family over the Easter holidays.
In his later years he enjoyed attending church and Sunday School at Zwolle First Baptist Church.
He will be remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by Ophelia Dill, wife of Zwolle, Louisiana, Theda Brister Zellers, mother of his children, of Livingston, Debra Tallant, daughter of Zwolle, Louisiana, Bradley Dill, son of Alexandria, Louisiana, Ashley Martin, daughter of Livingston, Texas, Madeline England, step daughter of Houston, Texas, Phyllis Pankey, step daughter of Mandeville, Louisiana, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a special thanks to the Lighthouse Hospice Staff and private sitters John & Evette and Bob and Shirley Lockman.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Zwolle Baptist Church or the Lighthouse Hospice.
