Funeral services for Richard Ross, 92, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post# 8568. Interment will follow in the Feagin Cemetery in the Hortense community, Texas. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas on Thursday, December 3, 2015.
Mr. Ross was born August 23, 1923 in Livingston, Texas to parents, Archie Ross and Callie (Martin) Ross, and passed away November 28, 2015 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, he was a member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department – Unit 25 from February 1949 thru October 1959. During that time, he served as Captain in 1953, Lieutenant in 1954 and Captain from 1956-1957. In 1958, Richard served as Assistant Chief until 1959. He also served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin Ross; and sister, Dot Powell.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Ross of Livingston, Texas; son, Roy Ross of Beaumont, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jerry Comacho of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Fay McClain of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Candis Reeves, Ricky McClain, Laura Rutherford, Daniel Rinehart, Katie Rinehart, Roy Ross Jr., Cassandra Ross; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Splettstoshler of Willis, Texas; sister-in-law, Wilma Ross of Livingston, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
