Richard was born May 18, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away July 12, 2023 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis B. Venverloh and Mary Louise (Bentz) Venverloh; brother, Paul Venverloh; and step-daughter, Stormy O'Neill.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila (Byrd) Venverloh of Livingston, Texas; sons, Douglas Venverloh and partner Daniela of Houston, Texas, and Jon Venverloh and wife Mehridith of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Kathryn Browne and husband, Jason of Portola Valley, California; step-son, Stacy Chumley and spouse Keodaly of Spring, Texas; sister, Ellen Nolte and husband Dennis of St. Louis, Missouri; and grandchildren: Grace, Caitlin, Julia and Ellie Venverloh; Henry, William, Annabelle and Calvin Browne; and Ian and Cole Chumley-Sanavong.
Richard studied mechanical engineering and graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, Missouri in 1965 before embarking on a 15-year career operating breweries for Anheuser-Busch. In 1980, Richard founded Milestone Metals, a Houston-based architectural steel erection company, and served as CEO until his retirement in 2002. In his final season of life, Richard was well known for volunteer efforts for the SPCA and for his leadership in the Livingston community Commodore Cape. From an early age, Richard had a knack for understanding how things work and was known as someone who could fix almost anything. Friends and family will miss his sharp wit, gregarious attitude and enthusiasm for helping others using his prodigious problem-solving and engineering skills and one-of-a-kind workshop.
Funeral is Tuesday July 25th; visitation at 10am, service at 11am, at Cochran Funeral Home, 406 Yaupon, Livingston TX 77351. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Secondhand Pups www.paypal.me/SecondhandPupsTx
