IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Allston
Wade Jr.
February 5, 1924 – August 22, 2022
A Celebration of Life service for Richard Allston Wade Jr., 98, of Livingston, Texas will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in The Bradford at Brookside Nursing Home in Livingston, Texas.
Richard Allston Wade, Jr was born February 5, 1924 in Portland, Maine to Richard Allston, Sr and Mary Frances (Kearney) Wade. His mother died when he was only two weeks old and he was raised by his grandparents (David & Ila Kearney) and aunts. He died August 22, 2022 at his residence in Livingston, Texas.
Richard was raised in Portland, Maine and at 18 years old he joined the Navy. He was a radio and radar operator on the Martin PBM 3S Seaplanes flying submarine patrol. He served eight years before leaving the Navy and becoming a long-haul trucker. Later in life he spent a couple years working as a circus clown.
Even though Richard was a Texas resident for the majority of his life, he always considered Maine to be "home". He loved his trips back to visit family and eat plenty of seafood. He was the life of the party. He was an avid reader and genealogy buff, subscribing to many magazines and newspapers.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Katherine and her daughter, Dannette , nephew Stephen Wade and his wife, Mary and family. He was predeceased by his previous wife, Patricia and brother, Donald Wade.
Richard was a long-time member of the local American Legion and the First United Methodist Church of Livingston, Texas.
Richard lived a full, rewarding and adventurous life, but he will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind. The family would like to thank the staff at The Bradford at Brookside, the Hospice team that cared for Richard in his last weeks, his special friend Isaac, who visited him often, his very helpful banker, Sheri and Cochran Funeral Home.
