Robert Vernon Clark Jr.

September 27, 1957 — February 17, 2026

Robert Vernon Clark, Jr., 69, was born on September 27, 1957, in Angelina, Texas, to Estella and Robert Clark, Sr. The youngest of eight children, he was raised in Lufkin before moving to Houston in 1974, where he attended Attucks Junior High. He later joined his brother James in Dallas, attending W.W. White High School, where he lettered in football as a linebacker.

Robert later returned to Lufkin and worked alongside his father, and played drums in a local band that performed at area clubs. In 1978, he served a stint in the U.S. Marines. Following his service, he devoted years to caring for his brother Dane until Dane's passing in 2005. His life eventually brought him to Polk County, where both his mother's and father's homesteads were rooted.

There he worked as an electrician and logger beside his father. In 2015, he made a final return to the Jefferson estate — "the old place" - a property he deeply loved. He spent his remaining years in Corrigan, Texas, where he passed away on February 17, 2026.

Charismatic and warmly regarded, Robert left a lasting impression on all who knew him, particularly throughout the Seven Oaks community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estella and Robert Clark, Sr., and his brothers Dane and James Clark. He is survived by his brothers Charles Clark, Richard Clark, and Patrick Mays; his sisters Stella Lewis, Ernestine Reese, and Deborah Anderson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Robert's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. In lieu of a service, family and friends are warmly invited to a remembrance and repass — a celebration of his life — on Saturday, March 28th, on the land he loved.
