Memorial services for Robert Frederick Harms, 92, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Livingston, Texas with Pastor James Mayland officiating. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #8568. Interment will take place at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 in the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Harms was born in Cologne, Minnesota to parents, Martin Hermann Harms and Laura Margarete (Bohlmann) Harms, and passed away June 20, 2019 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 31 years, Vera Meyer Harms; second wife also of 31 years, Patsy Bailey Harms; and brothers, Martin Harms and Fredrick Harms. During his life, Bob honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. After his service, he attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Soon after starting his career with Brown and Root Company, Bob and his wife, Vera were transferred to Houston. He then later began his own handyman service. He will always be remembered for his passion of fixing things. He would always repair and make improvements whenever he visited his childhood farm in Cologne. Bob was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He helped a great many people, both within his church as well as his community, by fixing, repairing and building things for anyone in need.
He is survived by his daughter, P. Robyn Rhea of Houston, Texas; sons, Samuel Rhea of Houston, Texas, Arthur Rhea and wife, Vanessa of Houston, and Ron Rhea Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Aaron Rhea (and his mom, Claudia) of El Paso, Texas, and Lydia Rhea, Christina Rhea, and Cameron Rhea all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nieces, Roberta Lauzon and husband, John of Monticello, Minnesota, Audrey Foley of San Antonio, Texas, and Dorothy Harms of Shakopee, Minnesota; great-nieces, Christine Tice and Alicia Foley; and great-nephews, Joseph Lauzon, Joshua Foley and Ryan Foley; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
