Obituary

Funeral services for Robert Wayne ""Bobby"" Pixley age 64 of Goodrich, Texas will be held Saturday January 23, 2010 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston with Patt Hitt, V.H. Hylton & Brent Harper officiating. Pallbearers will be W.R. Baker, Wright ""Beaver"" Baker, Arlion Gesford, Larry Harper, Jimmy Riddle, Brent Harper, Marty Lowe, Roger Wiegreffe, Toby Hicks, Lewis ""Preacher"" Jordon, Randy McAdams, Terry Haley, Joe McLelland, Paul D. Evans, Harvey Williamson and Richard Walters. Honorary Pallbearers will be his team roping partners and friends.

He was born November 8, 1946 in Livingston, Texas the son of Edwin Rex Pixley and Frances Emanuel Pixley and passed away January 20, 2010 at his home in Goodrich.

Bobby graduated from Goodrich High School, he was a Goodrich School Board member, a founding member and past officer of the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, organizer and president for 10 years, of the original East Texas Team Roping Association, one of the organizers and officer of the Polk County Youth Fair, he was a member of the U.S. Team Roping Association, ETTRA and Old Timers Team Roping Association and helped establish the Polk County Team Roping Championship. Bobby was an avid roping competitor and enjoyed teaching others this sport. He encouraged and instructed many young men to compete and challenged them to excel! He was a member of the Piney Woods Cowboy Church.

He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Pixley of Goodrich, mother Frances Inez Pixley, of Goodrich, Rex Wayne & Judith Pixley, son and daughter in law of Livingston, grandchildren, Kimball & Carter; son and daughter in law of Goodrich, Robert Winston & Leta Pixley, grandchildren, Ashley, Carson, Zane and Colter; brother, James E. Pixley and wife Yvonne of Goodrich and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
