IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodney Eugene
Bowen
August 22, 1955 – April 6, 2023
Rodney passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023, in Huntsville, Texas. He was 67 years old.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp and spend time in nature, enjoyed hunting, and was especially passionate about fishing. He was a Lifetime Member of the NRA. As an instrument technician, Rodney spent 8 months working on the North Slope in Alaska. He and his beloved wife, Sandra, had the opportunity to travel with his work and, because of this, they lived and explored in 8 different states as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands. Cherished memories (and plenty of fish tales!) were made in each of those places.
Several years ago, they found a hidden gem at Lake Chicot State Park in Arkansas and would spend time crappie fishing and relaxing there every year, usually in April to celebrate their anniversary.
Rodney enjoyed woodworking, particularly crafting unique and elaborate birdhouses, and building and flying balsa wood model airplanes. When he wasn't fishing or working with his hands, you could often find him playing golf or stargazing with his telescope.
Over the years, Rodney served the community as an EMT and a volunteer firefighter. Involvement as a first responder was a priority to him no matter where he lived. These ventures brought him great happiness and he was known to spend countless hours at the firehouse. He enjoyed antiquing at Roundtop, cooking and grilling, and especially a good cup of coffee.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 32 years, Sandra; his in-laws; his dear friend, Craig, and his wife, Terri; and numerous friends. A celebration of life service will be held at Cochran Funeral Home on Friday, April 14, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or to a cancer support group of the donor's choice. --
