Mr. Sanders was born January 1, 1944 in Livingston, Texas, to parents, Beely Sanders and Idell (Phillips) Sanders, and passed away September 20, 2021 in Beaumont, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rile Sanders and Bruce Sanders, Sr., and sister, Martha Sue Sanders.
For over 50 years, Roy owned and operated B&B Stake Company, manufacturing residential and commercial building stakes for customers across the state. He spent 56 years serving as a member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department in which he held many offices, for 23 years he was an instructor at Texas A&M Fire School. Roy spent many years volunteering for the Trinity Neches Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he was a founding member of the Livingston Buyer's Committee. Music was a major staple in Roy's life; he started as a child singing for his church on the local radio station. Many of you have crossed paths with Roy on the Dogwood Trail Ride where he drove the sound truck and was always open to request. You could usually find him wherever karaoke was being held and if you were there; you always had a dance partner in him. He was known for his blue and white truck (because there was no other color truck to him), his suspenders, his blue jacket, and the Sander's farm where many functions were held.
He is survived by wife of 41 years, Marilyn Sanders, son, Roy "Nunny" Sanders, Jr. and wife Patricia, sons, Tony Sanders and Cecil Snook, daughter, Michelle Vess and husband Gary, daughter, Beverly Davis and husband Clint, sister, Bonnie Jean Holbrook, grandchildren, Meagan Nelson, Zachary Gardner, John Davis, Lauren Toole, Josh Vess, Landon Vess, Zachary Snook, Allison Snook, Marissa Moore, Josh Sanders, Nicole Sanders, Gabrielle Sanders, Mark Sanders, and Samantha Sanders, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the employees of Harbor Hospice for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, 200 W. Church St., Livingston, Texas, and the Trinity Neches Livestock Show, P.O. Box 787, Livingston, Texas 77351.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Landon Vess, Josh Vess, Zach Gardner, Zach Snook, Mark Sanders, John Davis, Joshua Sanders, and nephew, Wade Overstreet.
