Ruby was born on March 23, 1933 in Lamar County, Texas and passed away on July 3, 2014 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bithe (Tate) Helms; and siblings, Mary Wilkerson, Marie Melton, Walter B. Helms, James Helms, Verdell Helms, Elmer Helms, and Eugene Helms.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Luther Holbert of Houston, Texas; children, Velma Ann Holbert of Livingston, Texas, Doris Jean Clements of Livingston, Texas, Gladys May Holbert of Shepherd, Texas, Barbara Gail Clements and husband, Ralph Steven Clements Sr. of Shepherd, Texas, Nora Sue Holbert of Houston, Texas, Mary Christine Holbert of Houston, Texas, Luther James Holbert of Houston, Texas, Jeanette Ann Perkey and husband, Leonard Wayne Perky of Livingston, Texas, Kenneth Martin Holbert and wife Joycelyn of Deer Park, Texas, and Ronnie Lee Holbert of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, R.C. Helms and Delbert Helms; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruby will be escorted to her place of rest by pallbearers: Billy Clements, Bobby Clements, David Perkey, Christopher Perkey, Jonathan Perkey, and Robert Williams III.
