Salvador Ray Ramirez

Salvador (Sal) Ray Ramirez, 67 of Livingston Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 26, 2026 at his home. Born on June 22, 1959 in Houston, Texas to Maria J Ramirez and Lorenzo L. Ramirez. Sal, grew up in Houston Texas where he went to Phillis Wheatley High School and then began a career in construction and maintenance. He worked at Stubbs Petroleum, The City of Livingston, and most recently with Petroleum Wholesale for a total of 22 years. He believed in a strong work ethic and getting the job done every where he worked and at every task he undertook.

He had a strong passion for horses, and loved trail rides. He spent many years with Los Vaqueros trail ride that made the annual 386 mile trip from The Rio Grande Valley to The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March. A tough trail that only Sal and his family could comprehend and take pride in their accomplishment.

Sal was known for "a warm laugh that could fill any room, and "unwavering dedication to his family, a quiet generosity that touched everyone who knew him”. He truly loved his kids and grandkids, and thrived on taking them fishing, trail riding, and walking out to feed his cows.

Sal is survived by his wife of 21 years, JoAnn Ramirez, Daughters; Misty Dunham ( Doyle) and Christina Buller (Justin), Sons; Carlton Ramirez (Melanie) and Paul Ramirez.

Grandchildren; Marlinda, Joshua, Maddison, Wade, Maesyn, Shawn, Lance, Brady. Great grandchildren; Waylon, Theordore, Sadie. Brothers; Authur Ramirez (Sandy), David Ramirez (KayKay), Julian Ramirez (Margie). Sisters; Silvia Partida and Mary Pena. He was preceded in death by his parents Maria J. Ramirez and Lorenzo L. Ramirez and his sister Consuelo (Connie) Karrodi.

Visitation will be held at Cochran Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Cochran Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30, at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Soda, Texas.
