Sam William McCreight born January 1, 1937 in Moss Hill, Texas to Joe Dark McCreight and Eva Ann Boothe McCreight. He was to pass from this life on February 5, 2022, at the age of 85, in his home surrounded by family in Livingston, Texas.
Sam grew up second to the youngest of 9 siblings in Moss Hill, Texas where his father farmed cotton. He would marry Myrtie Vee Parker in 1955 and would begin their family the following year. He would work for his brother, John McCreight, in the oil field building oil field locations, running heavy machinery up until the recession in the 80's. He then went to work for Liberty County running a motor grader, retiring two times.
Sam's hobbies ranged far and wide. Early on, the McCreights and Lockharts spent many weekends camping and fishing. Saturday nights in Moss Hill, there was usually a game of 42 being played at someone's home. He began his relationship with the Lord in 1973 by being baptized in the precious name of Jesus Christ and totally gave his life to the Lord when he received the beautiful gift of the Holy Ghost in 1983. He loved the Lord and his family. A hard man, yes. A good man, yes. A rascal, yes. Difficult, definitely. But when he loved, he loved Big.
Sam is preceded in death by his mother, father and grandson, Michael Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Myrtie, son Randy McCreight and wife Trudy, daughters Debbie Johnson, Jo Ann Oates and husband Dewayne, Elizabeth Arndt and husband Thomas. Grandchildren, Chrissy, Ken, Boni, Travis, Debbie Lee, Angela, Samantha, Melissa, Holly, Jonathan, Jessica, Deric, Emily, Mark and a host of great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Elias Kanaan, Kindred Hospice, Rachel Clamon, R.N., Jessica Bowen, R.N., Emily Lyons, R.N., Rev. Joshua Carney, Sis. Rebecca Carney and the 1st Church Family.
