Samuel Conway David 89, passed away on Monday April 21, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday April 25, 2008 at 1:30PM in the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, with Dr. Don Willis and Rev. James Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery with military honors given by VFW post 8568. Visitation will be Thursday April 24, 2008 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home.
Mr. David was born May 15, 1918 in Hortense, Texas to parents William C. and Verttna Gibson David. After graduating from Livingston High School, he joined the Navy. He was assigned to a destroyer ship where he spent 4 years on the water, and was in charge of the kitchen. Mr. David was a proud veteran and served during WWII.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Florine David, sisters Clara Parrish, and Nova Lee Hon, brothers Clarence David, Joshua David, Ewell David and Vernon David.
Mr. David is survived by his wife Margaret David of Livingston, Stephen Foster and wife Jennifer son and daughter in law of Colorado Springs, Co., Donna Boyd and husband Carter daughter and son in law of Houston, grandchildren Heather Martin of Houston, Brooke Priest of Houston and Joseph Craig Foster of Fort Campbell, KY. He is also survived by his four great grandchildren and his sister Willie V. Garrett along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Hall, Jay Tolbert, Walt Russell, Jesse King, Johnny Walker, Jim Poston. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dick Williams, Hulan Grantham, David Hon,Carter Boyd and Byron Hines.
