Obituary

Sandra (Sandy) Claudette LeBlanc of Livingston, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2024 at the age of 76. She is survived by her loving life partner/spouse of 30 years, Sandra (Sandy) Mason; sister,  Audette and husband Keith Justus of Corpus Christi, Texas; and aunt, Dolly Smothers of Boerne, Texas; as well as numerous beloved cousins and countless friends.

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, to LJ. & Mitzi LeBlanc, Sandy was always a very proud Texan. After growing up and attending Catholic schools in Corpus Christi, she graduated from Texas A&I University, and began her long teaching career at Texas City High School as an Art teacher. She personally loved working with clay and "throwing pots," winning awards for some of her work. As anyone who knew her is aware, she loved teaching art, and truly loved her students, who she thought of as her own kids. She was also the beloved Swim Team coach. Sandy spent all 31 years of her teaching career at Texas City High School, and was awarded Teacher of the Year (2000-01) by her peers. Cancer forced her retirement in 2002. With huge support from everyone, she fought that with all the strength and positive attitude she was known for. She was given 3 months to live but miraculously she survived that Stage 4 cancer, and on many occasions offered advice and support to other cancer victims.

For the past 20 years she and Sandy M (known as "The Sandy's") have lived in a home they built on Lake Livingston, loving the lake, nature and beautiful sunsets, sharing with neighbors and friends. To many of those that knew her, she was known as "the fun one." A huge lover of nature and sports, in younger years she enjoyed playing soccer as the goalie. She enjoyed going on Dirt Bike adventures with friends, zip lining, white water rafting - Sandy would try them all. She was particularly fond of water sports, whether it be boating and water skiing, riding her jet ski with her beloved cocker spaniel, Macy riding with her, or Wind Surfing-which she also taught. She volunteered and worked with the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to travel all over the world.

Sandy never met a stranger as the saying goes - she truly enjoyed life to the fullest. Even with many health challenges, she kept her sense of humor and her strong will to enjoy life. A wild, funny, adventurous, kind and loving soul beloved by so many.

We shall miss you greatly and thru tears, we thank you Sandy for being part of our lives - your memory is etched in our hearts forever.
