Funeral services for Sandra Wister Wood, 76, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Mike Meadows officiating. Interment will take place in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Henderson, Texas on Monday, May 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Wood was born February 14, 1943 in Washington D.C., to parents, Alf Thomas Wister and Freda Margaret (Meier) Wister and passed away May 21, 2019 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents. During her life, Ms. Sandra had the honor of being the first woman to ever run and be elected as an Alderwoman to the City Council of Livingston.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Wood of Livingston; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Deidra Wood of Tyler, Steven and Sharon Wood of Yoakum, and David and Shannon Wood of Huntsville; grandchildren, Markus Mosley and wife, Laura, Wesley Wood, Riley Wood, Jeff Wood and wife, Kandi, Jeremy Wood, Merci Wood, Grayson Wood and wife, Elizabeth, Kyle Higgins, and Hailey Baker; along with numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
