Memorial services for Shawn Niles York, 61, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

Shawn was born December 3, 1959 in Corinth, New York. He earned his wings on Monday, September 6, 2021 after battling a short illness.

Shawn was a 1980 graduate of Hadley-Luzerne High School in NY and was awarded his Certification in Conservation through the BOCES program.

Shawn married Starla (Allen) in June of 1986 and they spent 35 loving years together, enjoying each other's company and raising four beautiful daughters. Shawn worked several different jobs throughout the years, before retiring from his favorite occupation as a preschool bus driver, where he enjoyed teaching and singing with the children on the way to and from school each day.

Shawn spent the majority of his days outside, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, swimming or sitting by the lake, playing baseball and horseshoes. He excelled in Archery and earned an invitation to participate in the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. He also enjoyed watching storms, sunsets, changes in the night sky, bird watching, planting flowers for his wife, and teaching his girls how to work on cars.

Shawn enjoyed studying the Bible, painting, trying new recipes, grilling, exploring historical landmarks, sharing stories, telling jokes, listening to music, singing and making up songs for his grandbabies. His favorite activities were spending time with his wife and daughters and playing with his grandchildren.

Shawn touched the lives of those who met him and leaves behind many memories of love and laughter.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Seymour York, and his mother, Anna Mae (Grant) York.

He is survived by his wife, Starla (Allen) York of Texas; daughters, Amanda (Ken) Prescott and Sierra York of New York, Shawnette (Chris) Hambrick and Sheyenne (Tu) York of Texas; grandchildren, Kendra, Dayan, Arielle, Joseph, Alia, Aspen, and Christian; siblings, Darlene, David, Ellen, Carolyn (Jean), Charles (Scott), Sherry; his triplet siblings, Steven and Shelly; honorary daughters, Jessyca and Adrienne; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
