Mr. Risner was born March 22, 1932 in Evergreen, Texas to parents, Sherman Henry Risner Sr. and Elizabeth (Lillerd) Risner, and passed away on February 26, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. Sherman married his wife, Erma Risner at the age of 18. He worked for many years as a lumberjack and we have been told that he was so good at it that he could drop a tree on a dime. In 1964, Sherman and Erma moved to California with their 4 children. Sherman worked for many years at International Light Metals and after retiring moved back home to Livingston. Sherman loved to spend time outside and in his garden. He planted beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens. He could often be found outside tending to the plants or walking among the trees.

A wonderful thing about him was his great big bear hugs. He hugged you each time he saw you as if he hadn't seen you in awhile. When you left his home you walked away knowing you were loved, that he was glad you came by, and that he expected you to return because he would always say, "Ya'll come see us." We will carry his memory with us each day and are better people for having known such a kind and humble man. He is preceded in death by his parents; and 5 siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Erma Lene Risner of Livingston, Texas; son, Joe Risner and Kathy of Livingston, Texas; daughters, Eloise Risner-Stone and William of Garden Grove, California, Kathy Mugavero and Dana of Riverside, California, and Terri Jordan and Michael of Chino, California; grandsons, Greg Stone and Stacey of Mountain House, California, and Jeffery Risner and Sabrina of Fair Oaks, California; granddaughter, Selena Perry and Ron of Livingston, Texas; grandson, Sean Mugavero of Riverside, California; granddaughters, Nicole Mugavero of Riverside, California, Cara Gaona of Houston, Texas, and Cheyenne Jordan of Chino, California; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Risner of Livingston, Texas; and sister, Suzi Rodriguez of Kountz, Texas; along with his extended church family from Soda Baptist Church and numerous other relatives and friends.
