Services for Shirley Ruth Cox, 87, of Livingston, Texas will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Robert Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Shirley was born June 12, 1937 in Rockdale, Texas and passed away July 30, 2024 in Livingston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Andrew Simmons and Delma Ruth (Davenport) Simmons; husband, Bobby R. Cox, Sr.; 1 great grandchild; brother, Robert Simmons; and sister, Dorothy Simmons.

She is survived by her daughters, Carole Perry, Cathy Richardson and husband, Ronald, Carrie Hamilton, and Carla Webb; son, Bobby R. Cox, Jr. and wife Karen; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, with 2 great grandchildren on the way; and brother, Billy Simmons and wife Linda; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Shirley was an active member of First Baptist Church of Providence. Donations can be made in her honor to the FBC of Providence - Life Center Fund.
