Shirley Ann Murphy of Goodrich, Texas passed away on May 17, 2019, at the age of 83. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Private interment will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas.

Shirley was born in Rule, Texas on November 16, 1935, to parents Jewel and Henry Bland. In 1956 she married John P. (JP) Tinsley in San Angelo, Texas and they had four children. The family lived in various cities before settling in Goodrich in the 1970s. Shirley worked as book keeper and business manager. She also owned Shirley's Ceramics in Goodrich for a number of years, and served terms on the city council and as mayor of Goodrich. She loved crafts, mystery novels, and crossword puzzles. Throughout her life Shirley was an avid bowler, bowling in senior tournaments around the country well into retirement.

She is survived by her son, Jack Tinsley; daughters, Juana Reeves, Cheri Smith, and Stacy Tinsley; sister, Carolyn Geoffrey; brother, Donald Childress; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
