Thomas Wesley Elliott (T.W. ""Sam"" Elliott) died Sunday morning in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 92. He was born in Mt Vernon, Texas, May 8, 1921. His parents were Lon B. and Lena Elliott.
Sam was pre-deceased by his parents; wife, Nelwynn Baxley Elliott; four brothers, Jack Elliott, Joe Elliott, Olie Elliott and Claudie Elliott; three sisters, Ouida Scroggins, Carmen Griggs and Juanita Holub; one niece and one nephew.
Sam is survived by his children, Michael Elliott and wife, Mary of Cripple Creek, Colorado, Carole Futch and husband, Lenon of Austin, Texas, Angela Dominy and husband, Mike of Livingston, Texas, and Paula Estefan and husband, Ron of Conroe, Texas; nieces and nephews, Elaine Elliott of Rockport, Texas, Patricia Temple of Jacksonville, Texas, Rose Griggs, Fred Griggs and Jim Griggs; grandchildren, Ashley Thomasini and husband, Von of Monmouth, Oregon; great grandchildren, Sage, Malachi, Tobias and Shiloh Rain Thomasini; granddaughter, Jennifer Money and husband Billy Fain; great grandchildren, Meganne Money of Pearland, Texas, and Jake and Crissy Dominy of Livingston, Texas; step grandsons, Zachary and Blake Estefan of Houston Texas; devoted secretary and friend, Henrietta Norman; two friendly ex-wives, Marilyn Kidd of Goodrich, Texas, and Theresa Ainsworth of Nacogdoches; and a host of friends.
Sam began his life on the family farm in Winnsboro, Texas. Later, he joined the U.S. Air Force and soon transferred to the Paratroops, where he made many jumps. After an honorable discharge, he spent several years in the Reserves and was recalled to duty, serving in Korea in 1950. When this tour of duty was over, he established an oilfield service business until he was able to pursue his dream of ""living the country life"".
A 55 year long resident, of Livingston, he began operating a dairy at East Tempe until the lake was developed, which lead to his long career of real estate development. Sam was an entrepreneur who enjoyed buying and selling land and properties.
In his younger days, he loved golfing and boasting of two holes-in-one. Sam enjoyed talking with everyone who came in his office. They knew him for the many interesting stories he told about his adventures. He went to his office every day, until two weeks before his death.
Funeral services for Sam will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Bro. Dicky Boddie will conduct the service. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8568 Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Dominy, Jake Dominy, Bill Westmoreland, Daniel Walters, Jerry Wayne Cassity and Eddie Martin. Interment will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, following the chapel service, at Harmony Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.
