Tanya graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1982. After high school, she worked for various departments of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe with the more recent as a File Clerk/Receptionist at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Housing Authority. Growing up, Tanya loved to play sports. She loved playing basketball and softball in the women's league on the Reservation. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and University of Texas Longhorn fan.
On February 1, 2020, she married the love of her life, Burton Bullock, who was at her side of every moment as he possibly could. They supported and attended many of her grandchildren's and nieces and nephews' academic, cultural, or sporting events whenever they could. She was a constant presence in their lives. In her spare time, she quilted, weaved baskets, and did beadwork.
Tanya was a member of the Bear Clan of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe. She was the second oldest of five kids. She had a giving nature and always wanted to help in any way she could. She loved to laugh, and she loved to fuss at those she knew because she saw the potential in everyone she met. She loved listening to many types of music, but her favorite was Christian music. She was a member of the Indian Village Assembly of God Church and loved her church family immensely. She relied on her faith to get through everything.
