Ted
Savage
April 5, 1928 – July 28, 2015
Dr. Savage was born on April 5, 1928 in Warren, Oklahoma to Walter Scott and Nancy Nix Savage and was the youngest of 13 children. After Ted graduated from Warren High School he attended and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University. Ted later earned his master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his PhD from Luther Rice Seminary. He served in the U.S. Army as a stenographer from 1946-1948. He married Verna Rae Zinn on June 7, 1953. Ted and Verna served as missionaries to Zambia, Africa for 12 years. In addition to the mission field, Ted also served 9 years for the Radio Television Commission for the Southern Baptist Convention and was on the State Board of Directors for the Colorado Convention. He was also a chaplain for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for almost two years, which led him to Livingston. Dr. Savage held pastoral positions in Baptist churches throughout Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas. He was currently serving as the pastor for the senior adults at Central Baptist Church in Livingston. Survivors include his wife Verna Savage of Livingston; two daughters Marla Turner and husband Donald of Ft. Worth, Michele Edlin and husband Kent of Pueblo, Colorado; one son Michael Savage and wife Dianna of Teague; one brother Leon Savage; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
