IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teri Lynn
Janis
April 12, 1964 – February 20, 2021
Memorial services for Teri Lynn Janis, 56, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Teri was born April 12, 1964 in Midland, Michigan to parents, J.D. Shackelford and Janice (Meredith) Shackelford Young, and passed away February 20, 2021 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father.
During her life, Teri attended public school in Midland, Michigan where she was very active and excelled in sports. After high school, she had many employment opportunities including managing rental properties. It was during one of these positions that Teri started her successful career in the music industry. For the next 15 years, she would help build Pen & Pixel Graphics, Inc. from ground level to its most profitable years in the late 90's. She helped make a name that is still known to this day.
After leaving the music industry, Teri met her lifelong friend and together they built "The Wet Deck." That friendship quickly turned into an amazing family - with Teri as the backbone. She was an important part of The Wet Deck becoming what it is to this day. Had it not been for her holding things together through all these years, there would not be a "Wet Deck Family." When you walked through that door, she made it feel like home. Teri treated people as they were her brother, sister, mother or father - she made them feel welcome. For many people over the years, The Wet Deck was more than just a hangout, it was a home - a home because of people like Teri.
In 2008, Teri entered the land management field and because of her congenial personality, it did not take her long to excel. She was able to travel throughout the state of Texas while researching the mineral rights pertaining to oil exploration. During her career within the land management field, Teri worked for the Penn Virginia Corporation, E.O.G. Resources and Cabot Oil & Gas.
No matter which industry Teri decided to take on, she worked hard to build friendly relationships and gain the trust of everyone she came to know. She led by example - showing the definition of ownership and dedication. Every project she tackled, she contributed dedication, intelligence, hard work, foresight, and of course her wonderful people skills. It was very easy for anyone to develop a friendly relationship with Teri. She had a contagious smile, an unmistakable laugh, and strength that will remain in her family and friends memory forever.
She is survived by her lifetime partner, Harold Neyland of Texas; mother, Janice Young and step-father, James of Michigan; step-mother, Judy Shackelford of Arizona; brother, Douglas Shackelford of Hawaii; sister, Karen Freund and husband, David of Michigan; nephews, Will Freund and John Freund of Michigan; niece, Kayla Roth of Michigan; uncle, Jerry Meredith and wife, Carol of Georgia; aunt, Mary Crose of Nevada; along with numerous other family and friends.
