Thelton Owen Wren 71, passed away at home August 8, 2008 after a long battle with myelodysplasia. Funeral services were held Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 2:00PM in the Cochran Funeral Home - Onalaska Chapel. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery in Onalaska. Visitation was held Monday August 11, 2008 at the Klein Funeral Home in Tomball.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Jeanette Wren. Thelton was born in Hico, Texas in 1936. In 1942 he and his family moved to the Lubbock, Texas. In 1957 he met his future wife Jeanette Boyer. The married in 1960 and in 1961 the moved to Houston. They began their family with Johnny born in 1961, Fonda in 1962 and Kelly in 1964. Thelton worked at Oteco Products, until he later went back to his first love, as a bricklayer. He built homes and churches in the Houston, Deer Park, and Pasadena area. In 1974 he began working as a warehouseman for Western Electric. Thirteen years later, when AT&T split, he joined Compaq. Four years later, under new management he took early retirement. His retirement was spent playing pool, fishing and hunting with his brother, sons and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was the time he spent with all his family in Lampasas, Texas at the Wren/Rhodes/Adams family reunion, playing horseshoes and swapping stories. He will be remembered often and greatly missed. He was loved by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Herschel and Mayde Wren and one sister Nadine Wren. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Wren of Houston, mother in law Johnnie Boyer of Houston, brother Kenneth Wren and wife Norma of Trinity, son Johnny Wren and wife Marty of Magnolia, daughter Fonda Mancina and husband Louis of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, and son Kelley Wren and wife Monique of Magnolia. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, one great - grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews and loving family members and friends.
