Funeral services for Thomas Brakel, 98, of Kirbyville, Texas, will be held Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Lance Buller officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Post #8568 Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Bold Springs Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 9, 2020, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home.

Mr. Brakel was born May 15, 1922 in Goodrich, North Dakota and passed away August 3, 2020 in Kirbyville, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served in the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department from May 1963 to June 1966. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Brakel; parents; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Kenneth Brakel and Kathy of Iola, Kansas; son, Billy Joe Brakel of Crowley, Texas; daughter, Viki Buller of Kirbyville, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Angela Smith and Ed of Brookeland, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
