Thomas "Tom" Milford Edwards affectionately known as "Papa Tom" was born on February 25, 1937 and left this world to be with the Lord on December 20, 2024. Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Carolyn Sue Edwards; Mother and Father Luke and Doris Edwards; Brothers Dean and Bill Edwards and sisters Faye, Kay and Betty Lou; Great grandson Josiah Edwards.

Tom is survived by his daughter Cheryl Marshall of Onalaska, Texas; son, David and Shelli Edwards of Wallisville, Texas; daughter, Theresa and Ken Wheeler of Centerville, Alabama; son, Dale Edwards of Onalaska, Texas, and son, Thomas and Jennifer Edwards of Boerne, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy in his 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Tom was born in Brookville, Indiana, and was the fourth child of nine born to Luke and Doris Edwards. He spent his younger years growing up on his family's farm, where he assisted his parents in farm operations and guiding his younger siblings. He entered the United States Navy on August 17, 1955. Upon his completion of basic training he entered into a school where he was there from November 1955 to March of 1956. Upon completion of A School he trained as a naval dental technician until his active duty ended and he entered the Naval reserves in 1963. Tom served his country from 1955 until his discharge in 1969.

In 1957, Tom met the love of his life Carolyn and was married October 5, 1957 until her passing on July 9, 2018. For 60 years he loved, cared for and served his wife. Together they welcomed 5 wonderful children, 3 boys and 2 girls. He attended seminary from 1974 to 1976 where he became a licensed minister. He served the kingdom of God for almost 87 years, instilling the love of God into each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tom was a strong pillar of his community of Onalaska and served in many different capacities. From 1993 to 2014 he served as the Director of Maintenance for Onalaska ISD, along with serving as the City Inspector, on the City Counsel as well as serving a short stint as the Mayor Pro Temp for Onalaska. He loved the city of Onalaska and its residents.

Tom spent his life devoted to his faith, family and community and leaves a legacy behind in each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Service will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, Texas with Bro. Michael Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held on the day of service, from 12:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
