Obit for Thomas Leston Hammond
Major Thomas Leston Hammond, 80 of Houston, TX, passed away on March 25, 2012 at his home in Houston. He was born on January 16, 1932 in Pelly, TX to parents, Tom Lee Hammond and Larrissie Virginia Kinard Hammond. Major Hammond retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years and 11 months of service as a Major. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Larrissie Hammond and two sisters, Juanita Faye Tores and Carolyn Hammond Peters. Major Hammond is survived by his wife, Manda Hammond of Houston; son, Sammy Hammond of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Tippy and Michael A. Spratt of Houston; granddaughter, Linda Hammond; two grandsons, William Spratt and Michael Spratt; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Gene McLoughlin of The Woodlands; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston. Bro. Rex Hendrix conducted the services. Military Honors were provided by VFW Post # 8568. Pallbearers are John Hill, James McLoughlin, Mike McLoughlin, William Spratt, Michael Spratt and Sam Hammond. Honorary Pallbearer was Khammee Nokeo. Interment followed the chapel service at Camp Ruby Cemetery in Polk County, TX.
