Obituary

Thomas Pisel of Corrigan, Texas passed away in his sleep on March 29, 2018 at the age of 58.

Tom was born December 11, 1959 in Flagler, Colorado to James and Esther Pisel. He moved to Dickinson, Texas at the age of 6 and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1978.

In July 1989, Tom entered the U.S. Navy. After completing Basic Training, he served our country on the USS Vreeland FF-1068, USS Lake Champlain CG-57, USS Philippine Sea CG-58, and the USS Roosevelt DDG-80. He was also a student and instructor at the Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia and a recruiter in Houston. He was a substance abuse counselor at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola. Tom enjoyed seeing the world and making friends with all he met. He retired from the Navy in 2009 and moved to Corrigan to care for his loving parents. In recent years, Tom worked as a maintenance manager for AAA Self Storage, where he met many wonderful people who treated him as family.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, James and Esther Pisel, his wife Cynthia, his sister Lea Rowe, and brother Judson Hardee. He is survived by his daughter, Serena Jackson, her husband, Jimmy, granddaughter, Karleigh of Fort Worth, Texas, his sister, Patricia Eavenson, her husband, Bob of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, aunt Linda Johnson, her husband, James of Deer Trail, Colorado, aunt Christine Roth, her husband, Randy of Byers, Colorado, his best friend for 50 years, Frank Francis, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Tom had a love of animals, especially his yellow labs Babe, Dude, and the late Lacy. He enjoyed cooking, riding his motorcycle, the outdoors (especially fishing), and reading. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the SPCA of Polk County, Texas.

Visitation for Tom will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a memorial service will be on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, Livingston, Texas. Graveside internment will follow at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
