Tommye Kathryn
Dooley
February 19, 1916 – April 16, 2015
Tommye Kathryn (Henderson) Dooley, 99, of Baytown, Texas went to be with her Lord on April 16, 2015. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was dearly loved by her family and many friends. Tommye was born in Van Alstyne, Texas on February 19, 1916 to Robert and Elsie Gladys Henderson. She graduated from high school in Howe, Texas and met her husband Andrew Dooley while working at the candy counter in Woolworth's in Sherman, Texas. Andy and Tommye began their life together in 1935 in Dallas, Texas where Andy worked for a publishing company. Soon after, Andy began a career as a minister for the Churches of Christ, and Tommye began her new career as a preacher's wife. Tommye was perfect for this role because of her love for the Lord, positive attitude, love of people, and hospitable nature. Their house was always filled with family, friends, and church members.
Tommye and Andy had four children, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Tommye's greatest joy was to have all her family together at holidays. She loved to cook and entertain. Even in her last years of life, she was happiest when one of her great-grandchildren would sit on her lap or sit next to her while she read to them.
Tommye was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, and her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Ruth Dooley. She is survived by her son, Llyn Dooley, of Hurst, Texas, her daughter, Andrea Kirkpatrick, and husband, Joe, of Livingston, and her daughter, Margaret Ehlig, and husband, Bill, of Baytown.
She is also survived by her grandchildren and spouses Kelly and Deter Geurin, Keith and Julie Dooley, Kristen and Victor Alfano, Kara and Matt Hartleib, Kyle Dooley, Bethany and Paul Wood, Wade Dooley, Dee Andrea and Phillip Cutler, Krissy and Matt Patrick, Michelle Kirkpatrick, Tiffany and George Sorensen, Kelsey Kirkpatrick, Alison and Brent White, Eric Ehlig and Paula Hant, and Kirk and Leanne Ehlig. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Missouri City Church of Christ in Baytown, Texas.
