Valeria ""Val"" Pearl Maxwell 88, of Livingston passed away Tuesday May 26, 2009 in Pearland. Funeral services will be held 11:30 Saturday May 30, 2009 in the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Alford and Rev. Royce Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Val was born April 6, 1921 to parents Porter Calvin Dean and Myrtle Smith Dean in Shawnee, Ok. She was a charter member of the Blanchard Baptist Church, a past president of the Art League, and also a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star. For many years she owned and operated Vals lake Beauty Shop.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Leo G. Maxwell and Sidney Self, and son James Neal Self.

She is survived by her daughter Judy Horton and husband William of Pearland, son Richard Lee Self and wife D-Arbara of Oklahoma City Ok., and sister Daphne Smith of Dallas. Val is also survived by her beloved grandchildren William Horton Jr., Jeffrey Scott Horton, Tammy Boulanger, Michael Self, Christopher Self, and Shannon Carter, and great grandchildren Trey Horton, Jacob Horton, Merianda Carter, Madison Carter, Britney Cleveland and Aeriel Masters.
